Eng. Vincent Sidai who was the Busia
County Governor Sospeter Ojamong’s leading competitor at the last general
elections is a self seeker who does not have the Busia County’s development and
its peoples’ priorities at heart.
What clearly emerged is that Eng.
Sidai intended to use the Governor’s position in the County to exploit its
people, resources, monetary allocations from the national government and
development projects to enrich himself through skewered contracts.
Facts have already emerged that
immediately after he lost to bag the Busia County Governorship, at the last
general elections, he immediately dumped his top campaign team that nearly got
him the County’s gubernatorial seat as he embarked on viciously exploiting the
resources and opportunities in the county through his company.
ENGINEER: VINCENT SIDAI
Eng. Sidai has proved that he lacks
leadership values as required by the County residents and leadership demands
but simply proved that he is more of a family man. Sidai whose campaign team
raised funds for his campaigns when they all knew very well how much money a
company by the name SOW Construction which he co-owns with two other fellow
engineer was making millions to date has deliberately avoided a team that
fought so hard for him but instead concentrated more to his family and
business.
History has shown that a true leader
you must cover your key people in the sense that if you lose you lose together
as a team and if you win you all win together that has been and remains the
tradition that Presidents of the United States have entrenched for the world to
copy and succeed in sound leadership of collective responsibility.
However, the scenario here in Eng.
Vincent Sidai’s case is so ugly that some of us were fore front fighters
something the opponent Governor Ojaamong’ noted whose meaning translates into a
fearful reality that if all went bad the opponent would never consider us for
anything.
Surprisingly Eng. Sidai through his
company continues enjoying the fruits of the County through contracts that the
company acquired in highly questionable circumstances.
Right now he is the one through his
company who is constructing the first ever Busia County's Intensive Care Unit
(ICU) at a cost of Ksh.50 million when he has never inquired how some of his
chief campaigners were faring on or ever called for a post election post mortem
(SWOT) review concerning his performance. Adding salt to injury the Jubilee
government has also put him on the board of Kenya Pipeline Corporation.
The worst irony of the whole
business is the fact again when you hear his voice from the public domain he would
be somewhere at some funeral criticizing his opponent at the last general
elections, the sitting Busia County Governor for alleged poor service delivery
in the County.
Time has come when the people of
Busia County must resolutely decide to make the right decisions when it comes
to electing leaders with clear parameters of high integrity and commitment to
service of the people and development of the County instead of greed and
selfish profiteering interests because it is extremely bad to imagine if they
had elected someone who is very much into himself.
The worst emerging scenario is the
fact the same character is still harboring the hopes of going back to the
ballot for the County Governorship at the next general elections after dumping
his handlers and exploiting the County resources to enrich himself.
The big question is as a sworn
commander of an army how do you abandon your soldiers who fought so hard for
you to get the kind of votes on a United Democratic Front (UDF) ticket against
overwhelming (Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) in Busia County at the last
general election.
Worse still beating opponents by
huge margins in areas like Lwanyange and Kaludeka despite the power of ODM wave
and money machinery and personally failing to achieve the same in your own home
backyard but instead you continue enjoying as they suffer.
This state of affairs clearly means
that if you are given a chance to lead you can easily abandon the Busia people
and recklessly exploit the County’s resources with total impunity and
arrogance. What was required of the Eng. Sidai campaign team members was each
of them deliver in their respective areas for him but for me I went an extra
mile by delivering my on Lwanyange which our opponents thought was an easy
catch and Kaludega area where I reminded residents of what I did for them when
sugarcane fire consumed over 50 homes.
I therefore challenge him if he can
tell me or the world who else produced his area including himself. I have
always lived on the principal that you cannot buy me to change my stand that’s
why even after Ojamong stood by me during the first Busia County half marathon
and also agreeing to officiate over a book harvest at Chakol Girls High School
where I was the event's chairman - I still found him not convincing that he can
be a Governor.
However, through Sidai's sweet
promises and strategy I opted to support him so that is why I must urge our
people to walk the talk. The decision I have made is from a very independent
mind. So I think what Sidai should do best for Busia people is to support his
opponent to deliver on the promises he made to the people or shut up since he
has proved to be a self-seeker.
